Carthage junior golfer Wade Davis won a playoff in the boys' 14-15 year-old division last Thursday to place third in the division in the Northridge Country Club Tournament of the Ark-La-Tex Junior Golf Tour.
Taylor Nichols of Idabel shot a 79 to take top honors in the division, followed by Joshua Elrod of Wake Village, who was two strokes off the lead with an 81. Davis tied with Andrew Stuckey and Daniel Biggs of Longview for third, but Davis captured the playoff.
This was the fourth of a 15-week competition between golfers, who are college age to ages 7-9. There was a competition held Monday at Wood Hollow in Longview and then the golfers will participate at Texarkana Golf Ranch in Texarkana on Thursday of this week.
Thursday's event was the first 'double-point' competition of the summer. There will be five others that will be worth double for the competitors.

In the college boys division: Josh Cole of Texarkana shot a 74 and clipped Trumann Nugent of Texarkana by one stroke.
In the boys 16-18: Nick Quinn of Texarkana shot a 71 and won the division by three strokes over Zach Looney of Texarkana, who finished with a 74.
In the boys 12-13: Wilson Powell of Jefferson shot a 77 and defeated Grayson Jones of Texarkana, who was four strokes back with an 81.
In the boys 10-11: Kade W. Keith of Texarkana shot a nine-hole total of 33 to win the division, with Ethan Eppinette of Texarkana placing second with a 37.
In the girls 15-18: Ashley Carrell of Texarkana shot a 79 to claim the division over Ali White of Idabel, who won a playoff with Molli Taylor of Quitman to place second because of the tie-breaker.
In the girls 12-14: Katie Cox of Daingerfield shot a 42 and eased past Brittany Lessard of Texarkana, who was two strokes off the pace with a 44.
In the Co-ed 7-9: Joseph Davis of Hooks was the only competitor, shooting a 41.
