NACOGDOCHES – The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack football team will be participating in the national “Take a Kid to the Game” (TAKG) on Saturday, Oct. 10, when it hosts McNeese State. The game against the nationally ranked Cowboys is slated to begin at 6 p.m. from Homer Bryce Stadium.

The event, which is presented by Coca-Cola, was created to expose children to collegiate athletics. Along with the free admission, kids will receive free popcorn and $1 hot dogs. The SFA spirit squad will also be on hand prior to the game to paint faces.

SFA is one of more than 200 schools across the country participating in the campaign focused on allowing youth the opportunity to attend college football games. The TAKG program is entering its 13th season of promotion of collegiate athletics.

“We look forward to having kids from the community be apart of our gameday experience and support NCAA Football’s Take a Kid to the Game program,” said SFA Director of Athletics Robert Hill. “This is a great opportunity for children to spend quality time with a parent or role model, while learning about the fundamentals of college football in a family-oriented atmosphere.”

The game will serve as the Southland Conference opener for both schools. Tickets for game can be purchased at the SFA ticket office. For more information call (936) 468-JACK.
