Center High School tennis coach Leon Dykes has scheduled a pair of tennis clinics this summer for beginner, intermediate and advanced players to sharpen their skills.

The Shelby County Tennis Clinics will be held in two sessions, with Session I taking place from June 27-30 and Session II taking place from August 1-4.

In each session, the beginners (those with less than one year of experience) will take part between 8-10 a.m., intermediate participants (those who have two years of experience and some tournaments) will work between 9-11 a.m., and advanced players (those with three years experience and many tournaments) will go through training between 10 a.m. until 12-noon.

Ability age groups are ages 8-11 for beginners, ages 12-14 for intermediate and ages 14-17 for the advanced group. Coach Dykes said a minimum of six individuals per group are necessary for the group session to take place. There will also be a 16-person maximum.

The sessions will take place at the Center High School tennis courts. The cost for participation is $45 for one session and $80 for both. Coach Dykes said participants need to RSVP for Session I by June 24, and by July 29 for Session II.

Anyone who is interested in participating should contact Coach Leon Dykes at (936) 590-9610 before 9 p.m.
