GOLF: Lady Dawgs battle for State crown

Class 3A competition to be held in Austin on Thursday, Friday

The Carthage Lady Bulldog golf team is in Austin this week to compete in the Class 3A State Golf Tournament. The Lady Dawgs will be one of eight teams competing in 3A as CHS battles to be the state's best.

While Class 1A, 2A and 4A competed on Monday and Tuesday, Classes 3A and 5A boys and girls will play on Thursday and Friday. Carthage will be competing at the Roy Kizer Golf Course.

Members of the Carthage squad include Olivia Boone, Courtlynd Miller, Anneth Garcia, Kailyn Rogers and Lauren Addington.

The Lady Dawgs are joined by Prosper from Region II. Other teams that will be competing for the crown include Region I squads Andrews and Burkburnett, Region III representatives from Gatesville and Hudson and Region IV teams from Lampasas and Yoakum.

Carthage golfers will be pair up with athletes from Burkburnett, Hudson and Yoakum and tee-off beginning at 8 a.m. on Thursday. the final Carthage competitor will get underway at 8:40 a.m.

On Friday CHS golfer will be part of the later competitors to tee-off, starting at 8:50 a.m., with the last golfers getting underway at 9:30 a.m.

Medalist golfers will start after team golfers.

The Class 3A and 5A champions will be decided on Friday.
