CENTER -- The Center 8th Grade 'B' Roughriders stopped Bullard back behind the line of scrimmage on six of 14 offensive plays here at Roughrider Stadium Thursday night en route to an impressive 12-0 win over the Panthers. Bullard managed only
25 yards of total offense, while Center rode the back of Jemarcus Jones, who ran for 164 yards and a pair of scores.

Jones stole the show for Center, averaging 27.3-yards per carry on six attempts. He had scoring runs of 75 and 61 yards.

Guage Raines added 21 yards on a pair of carries for CMS, while Earl Elam finished with 15 yards and Ricky Rios gained three.

Center scored all of its points in the first quarter as Jones got loose on a pair of long runs. On the game's third play, he took a pitch and sprinted down the right sideline for a 75-yard scoring jaunt. Coincidentally, the previous play was scoring run by Jones, but it was called back because of a penalty. The two-point try failed, but the Roughriders led 6-0 with 4:00 left in the opening stanza.

Bullard couldn't pick up a first down on its next offensive series. Center then took over on its own 39 and Jones found the endzone two plays later on a 61-yard TD. Tyre Barnes' try for two failed, but with one seconds left in the period Center led 12-0.

Each team had one possession in the second quarter. Center appeared to be possibly heading for another score, but time ran out when Jones was tackled on a 16-yard run at the Panther 22-yard line.

Neither team would score in the final 12 minutes of play. Elam recovered a fumble to help the Center defensive effort.

The Center 8th grade 'B' team will return to action next Thursday when the 'Riders travel to Carthage to battle the Bulldogs. The two 7th grade teams will get things started at 5 p.m., followed by the 8th grade 'B' team and then the 8th 'A' squad.
