The Garrison Lady Bulldogs claimed the Class 1A Region III District 19-20 Area Track Meet last week in Hawkins by setting seven new personal records and advancing athletes to the Region III Track Meet in 14 events as GHS ran away with the competition.
Timpson also earned berths to the Class 1A Region III Track & Field Meet in Palestine on May 2-3 in three events, while Mount Enterprise will be sending a relay team and an individual.
Garrison claimed top honors in the team point standings with 106, with Cumby finishing second with 95 and Martins Mill coming in a distant third with 47. Hawkins claimed the fourth spot with 45 points, Clarksville was a close fifth with 44, Alto and Beckville tied for sixth with 36 points and Overton placed eighth with 30 points.
The top four finishers in each event move on to the Region III meet.
Lady Bear Jakelia Caraway placed second in the 100-meter dash, posting a time of 12.84. She finished second to Wells of Alto, who ran a 12.70. Mount Enterprise's Alesha Townsend came in third with a 12.85 and Detroit's Raven Bonner ran fourth with a 12.87.
Caraway also claimed the fourth spot in the 200-meter dash, finishing the event in 28.09 to move on to the regional meet. Her teammate, LaToya Cartwright, claimed a third-place finish with a 28.09. Holly Jenkins of Martins Mill was second with a 28.00 and Clarksville's Jessica Coulter won the event with a 27.70.
Timpson's Cartwright placed fifth in the 400-meters with a time of 1:09.78. Amanda Murdock of Cushing took the top spot with a 1:00.02.
The Mount Enterprise 4x200-meter relay claimed top honors as Mikea Bryst, Sierra Johnson, Maci Grubbs and Alesha Townsend placed third with a time of 1:51.44. Martins Mill placed first with a 1:49.62 and Clarksville was second with a time of 1:50.44.
Garrison's Lady Bulldogs ran away with the meet, claiming top honors in four events, with three second-place finishes, three third-places and four fourth-place positions at the meet.
The Lady Bulldog 4x100 relay foursome of Shamika Nickols, Jennifer Walker, Kelsey Bass and Jasia Berry was one of its leaders, posting a time of 51.55 for third place. Alto won the event with a time of 51.43 and Clarksville was second with a 51.52.
Garrison's Megan Davidson placed third in the 3200-meter run with a time of 13:22, which was a new personal record for her. Her teammate, Bridgett Bass, placed seventh with a 14:39.
Jasia Berry set a new personal record on her way to a first-place finish in the 100-meter high hurdles as she posted a 15.44. Kelsey Bass came in third with a 17.18 and Lady Bulldog Jennifer Walker was fourth with a 17.33.
Berry claimed another personal best in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles, finishing the event with a 48.73. That time was good enough for second place, behind Cumby's Savannah Neal, who ran a 48.20.
Megan Davidson of Garrison ran fourth in the 1600-meter run, setting a new personal record in the process. She posted a time of 6:04. Brittany Cox of Hawkins won the event with a 5:48.
In the field events for Garrison, Shelby Gresham won the discus as she set a new personal mark with a throw of 118-3. Overton's Abby Mackey placed second with a 114-2.
Lady Bulldog Jennifer Walker leaped 5-2 to claim first place in the high jump. Hally Jenkins of Martins Mill was second with a 5-0.
Garrison placed fifth and seventh in the long jump. Shamika Nickols took the fifth spot with a 15-2.25, while Hannah Berry placed seventh with a 14-0.
Garrison's Kelsey Bass took second in the pole Vault, with a new personal record of 10-0. Both she and Overton's Savannah Waggoner cleared 10-0, but Waggoner won based on misses. Lady Bulldog Bridgett Bass came in fourth with a 7-0.
Shelby Gresham of Garrison won the shot put with a new personal record of 37-11. Hannah Liedtke of Simms Bowie was second with a 35-10.5.
Garrison also took the second and third places in the triple jump. Jennifer Walker placed second with a 34-00.75 and Jasia Berry claimed the third spot with a 33-4.5.
Garrison's 4x400-meter relay placed eighth. The foursome was made up of Nickols, Stokes, B. Davidson and Lilley.
