Joaquin golfers Nick Cheatwood and Austin Bloodgood tied for second place at the District 20-2A Golf Tournament held recently and were forced to play a one-hole playoff to see which Ram would qualify for the upcoming Class 2A Region III tourney as the second Medalist. Cheatwood outdueled his teammate and earned the postseason trip.

Both Bloodgood and Cheatwood shot identical rounds of 95 and Bloodgood will be an alternate for the Class 2A Region III Tournament Monday and Tuesday in Bullard, while Cheatwood will represent the school as the second individual Medalist.

Joining Bloodgood as an alternate is Lady Ram Katelyn Cockrell, who placed third in the girls' individual competition.

As a team, the Joaquin boys placed fourth overall at the 20-2A tourney. The squad consisted of Luke Brown, Gage Cantin, Wyatt Hairgrove, James Hovey, Cody Runnels, along with Cheatwood and Bloodgood.

The Joaquin Lady Ram golf team placed third overall, just missing the Region III Tournament as a team. In addition to Cockrell, other members of the Joaquin girls' squad included Jodi Cokrell, Elisabeth Patrick, Malana Naquin and Stacie Sonnier.
