BECKVILLE -- The Garrison Lady Bulldogs recorded seven first-place finishes and qualified athletes for the Area Meet this week in 18 events at the District 20-1A Track & Field Meet Wednesday and Thursday in Beckville.
Garrison took top team honors with 157 points, easily outdistancing second-place Alto, which scored 101 points. Beckville was a close third with 99 points, Martins Mill placed fourth with 68 points and Cushing posted 50 points for fifth place.
Carlisle and Overton tied for sixth place in the team standings with 41 points, Timpson posted 28 points for eighth place, Mount Enterprise placed ninth with 24 points and New Summerfield scored eight points and placed 10th.
The top four finishers in each event will advance to Wednesday's Area Meet, which is scheduled to take place in Hawkins.
Running Relays
The Lady Bulldog 4x100-meter relay foursome of Shamika Nickols, Jennifer Walker, Kelsey Bass and Jasia Berry placed second with a time of 51.18. Alto took top honors with a time of 51.02, while Beckville placed third and Carlisle came in fourth. Mount Enterprise recorded a 52.67 for fifth place.
Alto's foursome won the 4x200-meter relay with a time of 1:49.81 to claim first place. Martin's Mill placed second and Carlisle came in third. Mount Enterprise recorded a time of 1:51.97 for fourth place. Garrison's foursome of Nickols, Walker, Brooke Davidson and Jami Matlock ran sixth with a 1:54.21.
Cushing took top honors in the 4x400-meter relay, with a time of 4:28.58. Alto placed second and Beckville was third. The Garrison group of Nickols, Laci Stokes, Davidson and Jaemee Lilley placed fourth in 4:38.55. Timpson foursome ran fifth with a time of 4:45.58.
Individual Running Events
Timpson's Jakelia Caraway placed fourth in the 100-meters, posting a time of 12.55. Wells of Alto won the event with a 12.30.
Caraway captured top honors in the 200-meters, posting a 26.37. Martin's Mill's Haily Jenkins and Taylor Munns came in second and third, respectively. Lady Bear LaToya Cartwright ran fourth with a time of 27.62.
Garrison's Stokes placed fourth in the 400-meters with a time of 1:07.55, with Timpson's Cartwright running a close fifth with a 1:08.24. Amanda Murdock of Cushing won the event in 1:01.33.
Lady Bulldogs Jasia Berry, Jennifer Walker and Kelsey Bass swept the top three places in the 100-meter hurdles. Berry posted a 15.49, Walker came in with a time of 16.71 and Bass recorded a 16.83.
Garrison's Berry won the 300-meter intermediate hurdles, with a time of 48.80. Berry's teammate Kelsey Bass was sixth with a 55.71 and Lady Bulldog Hannah Kimbrough placed eighth with a 1:02.71.
Lady Bear LeeAnn Gustin placed seventh in the 800-meters with a 2:55.96, while Kaylee Prince of Garrison ran eighth with a 2:57.02. Cushing's Amanda Murdock took top honors with a 2:39.96.
Garrison's Megan Davidson won the 1600-meter rush with a time of 6:10.55. Davidson's teammates, Bridgett Bass, placed fifth with a time of 6:32.30, while Kyla Hudnall posted a 6:32.81 for sixth.
Megan Davidson also won the 3200-meters with a time of 13:55, while Bridgett Bass placed third with a 15:01 and Hudnall came in fourth with a 15:17.
Field Events
Garrison's Shamicka Nickols placed fourth in the long jump with a 15-0. Timpson's Caraway was fifth in the event with a 14-11.75. Overton's Abby Mackey won the event with a distance of 15-2.75.
Lady Bulldog Jasia Berry won the triple jump with a leap of 32-7.50, while Garrison's Walker was second with a 32-5.00. Garrison's Shamicka Nickols was sixth with a distance of 30-2.
Garrison's Jennifer Walker won the high jump with a height of 4-10, while Timpson's Cartwright was fifth with a 4-6.
Kelsey Bass of GHS placed second in the pole vault with a height of 9-6. Bridgett Bass was fifth with a 7-0.
Lady Bulldogs' Shelby Gresham won the shot put with a distance of 34-7.50. She also took top honors in the discus with a distance of 105-11.
