T&F: 'Riders place second at Kirbyville Relays

The Center Roughriders only posted one first-place finish, but they had three second-place postings along with three third-place finishes to claim second place overall honors at the Kirbyville Relays last Thursday.

CHS ran at the Diboll Meet this week and will now set its sights on the District 18-3A Track & Field Meet, scheduled for next Tuesday and Wednesday in Diboll. Field events and running preliminaries will take place on Tuesday, with the running finals taking place on Wednesday evening.

The Roughrider 4x100-meter relay foursome of Tre Sudds, Ty Hubbard, Shaquille Ingram and K.J. Garrett ran second at the Kirbyville meet. The CHS foursome of Sudds, Hubbard, Garrett and Se'Ryan Netherly posted a third place finish in the 4x200-meter relay.

Center's 4x400-meter relay of JaTarvis Jackson, Demetrius Lane, De Jalen Preston and Julio Martinez placed fourth in the event.

In the field events, Hubbard posted a sixth-place finish in the long jump, while Quincy Ratcliff and Kevinski Pitts were third and sixth, respectively, in the shot put.

Bryan Ruiz ran fourth in the 1600-meters, while Cody Oswalt was close behind in fifth place. Ruiz won the 3200-meters, with Oswalt placing third and Trey Byrnes coming in sixth.

Hubbard finished second in the 200-meter dash, with Garrett posted a fourth-place finish.

Martinez ran fourth in the 400-meter dash, while Sudds placed second in the 100-meters.

JUNIOR VARSITY BOYS DIVISION
The Center junior varsity boys track team scored 90 points at Kirbyville to place third overall.

The Roughrider 4x100-meter relay foursome of Trey Johnson, Demetrius Lane, Kiounis Williams and Augustine Johnson posted a second-place finish.

In the field events, Trevor Hubbard and Josh Martin placed second and third, respectively, in the discus. Johnson placed sixth in the long jump, Lane was fifth in the triple jump and De Jalen Preston was third in the high jump competition.

Nathan Sears ran fifth in the 110-meter high hurdles and sixth in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles.

Johnson recorded the third-best time in the 100-meters, with Williams running sixth. Johnson won the 200-meter event, with Williams placing second.
