CUSHING -- The Timpson Bears captured all three relays and claimed top honors in four other events last Thursday to win the team championship at the Cushing Bearkat Relays by 22 points over Central Heights.

The Bears scored 167 points, with the Blue Devils coming in second with 145 and Cushing placed a distant third with only 65 points. Other team finishers included: Beckville, 4th, 57; Tenaha, 5th, 53; Douglass, 6th, 32; Joaquin, 7th, 29; Martinsville, 8th, 12; and Mt. Enterprise, 9th, 2.

The Alto Lady Jackets easily won the varsity girls division, scoring 139 points. Central Heights was second with 89.5 points and Joaquin claimed third with 69.5 points. Other girls team finishers included: Cushing, 4th, 69; Timpson, 5th, 50; Tenaha, 6th, 48; Douglass, T-7th, 44; Mt. Enterprise, T-7th, 44; Chireno, 9th, 27; and Martinsville, 9th, 9.

VARSITY BOYS
The Timpson 4x400-meter relay ran a time of 3:40.1 to claim top honors over Central Heights, which posted a time of 3:50.6. The Bear 4x200-meter relay posted a first-place time of 1:34.5, while Cushing was second at 1:39.7, Tenaha was third at 1:39.8 and Joaquin came in fourth with a 1:46.

Timpson's 4x100-meter relay foursome posted a time of 43.96, with Tenaha placing second at 46.08, Cushing running third with a 46.13 and Joaquin posting a time of 46.24, for fourth.

Other Timpson standouts included Lorenzo Young winning the 300-meter intermediate hurdles, posting a time of 43.5 and Rody Paige and Jaylin Rhodes running 1-2 in the 100-meter dash. Paige posted a time of 11.11 and Rhodes finished in 11.49. Bussy also won the 110-meter high hurdles, running an 18.33.

In the field events, Timpson's Zedric Grace placing second in the shot put with a distance of 38-9, Jay Bussey placed third in the high jump with a leap of 5-6 and Young claiming top honors in the long jump with a leap of 20-8. Tenaha's Cody Lampley won the triple jump with a distance of 39-1.5, with Timpson Bussey second at 38-6.

VARSITY GIRLS
Timpson posted three first-place finishes in the varsity girls division, while Joaquin had one first-place finish in the tough girls varsity field.

In the field events, Timpson's LaToya Cartwright won the high jump with a height of 4-10. Tenaha's Okievia Bratchett placed second in the triple jump with a measurement of 30-4.75, with Lady Ram Katelyn Cockrell placing third with a 28-4 and Joaquin's Whitney Vaughn placing fourth with a 26-1.

Joaquin's Olivia Worsham won the 300-meter intermediate hurdles with a time of 53.18, while Timpson's Jakelia Caraway won the 200-meter dash and Cartwright placed second with times of 27.14 and 28.24, respectively.

Caraway ran a 12.99 to win the 100-meters, with Courtney Edwards of Tenaha placing second with a 13.14 and Alesha Townsend of Mount Enterprise finishing third with a 13.37.

The Tenaha 4x100-meter relay foursome ran second to Alto, posting a time of 52.74. Mount Enterprise placed third with a 52.42 and Joaquin was fourth with a 55.58.

Joaquin's Worsham ran second in the 100-meter high hurdles, with a time of 19.9.

Alto won the 4x200-meter relay, with Mt. Enterprise placing second with a 1:54.7, Tenaha coming in third with a 1:57.7 and Joaquin placing fourth with a 2:03.

The Lady Ram 4x400-meter relay placed third behind Cushing and Alto, posting a time of 4:49.1.
