The Panola College Foundation will host a golf tournament on Saturday, April 30, at the Center Country Club Golf Course to raise money for its endowment.
“This will be a wonderful event and a great opportunity for our communities to show their support for Panola College students,” said Carol Vincent, Foundation Board Chair. “The Foundation supports the mission of the College, and over the years has provided much needed funding for scholarships and equipment.
"In addition, it has also provided grants to the Health Sciences and Fine Arts Divisions and the College’s Oil and Natural Gas program. With record enrollment combined with reduced State funding, the need is greater than ever.”
Registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. on April 30, with golfers teeing off at 8 a.m. Teams are encouraged to register early to reserve a spot. Lunch will be catered by the Center Country Club.
The format is a scramble consisting of four-person teams. Participants will be able to compete in longest drive and closest to the pin contests. There will also be a hole-in-one competition for a 2011 GMC Sierra crew cab pickup truck, sponsored by Monco Motors of Center.
Each member of the first-place team in each flight will receive a $100 gift certificate to the pro shop. Second-place team members will each receive a $75 gift certificate, and third-place team members will each receive a $50 gift certificate.
The Panola College Foundation is also grateful to the Center Broadcasting Company, Farmers State Bank, the First State Bank & Trust Company and KGAS 104.3 FM for their help in sponsoring this event.
The Foundation is led by a volunteer board comprised of business and community leaders from Panola and Shelby Counties. Their dedication to education provides assistance to students and fuels College initiatives.
