T&F: 'Riders claim top honors at Huntington

Center junior varsity boys place second at meet

With the District 18-3A Track & Field Meet fast approaching next month, the Center Roughrider team continues to excel. The 'Riders easily outdistanced the competition at the Huntington Red Devil Meet on Thursday, soaring to 125 points and winning the meet by 38 points. The Center JV boys placed second.

In the varsity overall race, Center outdistanced second-place Woodville, which scored 87 points. Diboll claimed third place with 78, Hudson came in fourth with 71, Huntington placed fifth with 69 points, Hemphill was in sixth with 59 and West Sabine claimed seventh place with 53 points. Onalaska placed eighth with 41 points, Garrison was ninth with 24 points and Zavalla ran tenth with 10 points.

Center claimed top honors in all three relays. The CHS 4x100-meter relay foursome of Tre Sudds, Ty Hubbard, Jayaveon Standley and K.J. Garrett placed first, while Garrett, Sudds, Hubbard and Se'Ryan Netherly were the four athletes to win the 4x200-meter relay. Garrett, JaTarvis Jackson, DeJalen Preston and Julio Martinez were the four athletes to be a part of the 4x400-meter relay group to outleg the competition.

In the individual running events, Sudds won the 100-meter dash, while Martinez ran second. Preston was fourth in the 400-meters. Hubbard captured the No.1 spot in the 200-meters, with Standley coming in third and Netherly running fourth.

In the field events, Hubbard placed second in the long jump, Standley was fourth in the triple jump and Quincy Ratcliff and Johnny Bluford were first and sixth, respectively, in the shot put.

In the junior varsity boys' division, Center finished 20 points behind Huntington to take second place with 114 points. Hemphill placed third with 85, Hudson posted the fourth-best total of 82 and Woodville ran fifth with 65 points. Garrison was sixth at 41, Diboll was seventh with 32 points, Onalaska scored 20 for eighth, Broaddus was ninth with 14 points and West Sabine scored four points for 10th place.

The Center 4x100-meter relay foursome of Trey Johnson, Shaquille Ingram, Kiounis Williams and Augustine Johnson claimed a first-place finish, while the 4x400-meter relay of Mack Hamilton, Adam Solis, Nathan Sears and Kyle Clinton ran fifth.

Sears placed fifth in the 110-meter hurdles and sixth in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles. Hamilton was fourth in the 400-meters.

Ingram captured first place in the 100-meters, with Johnson placing second and Williams claiming the third spot. Johnson was the first-place finisher in the 200-meters, with Ingram placing second and Williams running fourth.

In the field events, Johnson won the long jump, with Ingram coming in third. Trevor Hubbard placed second in the discus, with Lynn Burns tallying fourth. Johnson was fifth in the triple jump and Javaris Rankin was third in the shot put.

Center's boys and girls will compete at the Kirbyville Wildcat Relays on Thursday of this week, before competing at the Diboll Lumberjack Relays on April 7.
