The Center Roughrider powerlifting team recently posted its second straight strong finish, wining the Diboll Invitational. CHS outscored nine other team to take the title.
Melvin Suell claimed top honors in the 123-lb. class with a total of 830 pounds, while Justin Lovett and Jetarvis Jackson placed second and third, respectively, in the 148-lb. class. Lovett tallied 1,045 pounds in the deadlift, squat and bench press, while Jackson lifted 990 pounds.
Other highlights of the meet for Center included: In the 165-pound class, K.J. Garrett claimed the third spot with 1,025 pounds; Nathan Sears placed fourth in the 198-pound class with 1,145 pounds; Kevinski Pitts won the 220-pound class with 1,485 total pounds, with Aaron Liker placing second with 1,310 pounds; Bridarian Dodd placed fifth in the 242-pound class with 1,205 pounds.
Other members of the Roughrider squad competing were Moises Araujo, Garrett Stanley, Kiaunis Williams, Trey Sudds and Jevaris Rankin.
