The Tenaha Tigers put on an offensive show last Tuesday night as they scored three first-half goals en route to an impressive 6-3 soccer victory over Class 3A Liberty Eylau on a cold night in Liberty.
Tenaha posted 22 shots on goal for the night as the Tigers wasted little time opening up a lead. Jose Campos posted a pair of goals near the midpoint of the first half when he slammed shots past the Leopards' goalie at 22:54 and 21:23.
Victor Flores gave the Tigers what appeared to be a comfortable 3-0 lead at the 18:41 mark when he sliced a shot into the back of the net.
Liberty Eylau answered with a pair of goals late in the half to pull within 3-2 at the break.
Less than 10 minutes into the second half the quick-footed Tigers padded their lead when William Lazaro slapped in a shot with 30:15 remaining to create a 3-2 advantage. Other Tenaha goals in the second half were scored by Eddie Marroquin at the 17:44 mark and Campos slammed in his third goal of the game with 4:53 on the clock to put the final 'nail in the coffin'.
Richard Koller recorded the win in the net for THS, picking up 13 saves on 16 shots. Timothy Hafford also worked in goal for the Tigers, picking up four saves on four shots faced.
The win snapped a three match losing skid for Tenaha as the Tigers improved to 2-3 on the season. The Tigers hosted Spring Hill Monday night and will be at home on Tuesday, weather permitting, to host Hudson at 7 p.m. THS will also welcome Liberty Eylau to Tiger Stadium on Friday night for a 7 p.m. match.
