The Shelbyville Lady Dragon cross country team has continued to build its performances and momentum throughout the season and began reaching its peak on Wednesday when SHS went to Colmesneil and qualified for the Region IV Cross Country Meet with a third-place finish at the District 25-1A Meet.
According to Shelbyville Head Coach Stephany Carter, the Region IV Meet is scheduled for Nov. 6 in San Antonio.
Emma Walker has been the leader of the squad all season long and she continued to top the Lady Dragons at district, posting a fifth-place finish. Camory Bolton, who also has received several medals this season, was also in the Top 10 in individuals honors capturing the 10th spot.
Other members of the Shelbyville squad that will be headed to Regional include Lovey Brown, Chelsea Edwards, Tiara Johnson, LaKuwaneshia McClelland and Kadeshia Turner.
Other schools competing at the District 25-1A Meet included Broaddus, Brookeland, Colmesneil, Dallardsville Big Sandy, Evadale, Hull-Daisetta, West Sabine, Sabine Pass, West Hardin, Tenaha and Zavalla.
In the junior varsity boys' competition, Shelbyville's Jessie Rose posted a second-place finish overall.
The Shelbyville Junior High girls also had a strong showing, finishing in first place overall. Adaisia Cartwright ran first, while Ali Baty placed second, Jazlynn Babin posted a sixth-place finish and Jabria Jenkins came in eighth overall.
