The Timpson Lady Bear volleyball program will be under the direction of a new coach in 2010 and she is excited about the year ahead. In fact, the coach has scheduled a meeting to visit and get to know perspective athletes and their parents.
Tori Neugebauer has taken over the helm of the Lady Bears. She takes control of a team that posted a 9-15 overall mark, including a 3-7 District 21-1A record. Both marks were season highs for the program.
Neugebauer has announced that she is hosting a 'Get to know the coach' meeting on Tuesday, July 6, at 7 p.m. in the school's high school gymnasium. Any female athlete in middle and high school, as well as their parents, are encouraged to attend.
"We really need to get an idea of how many athletes to expect for high school participation, as well as the middle school,” Neugebauer stated this week. "We want to make sure we have enough uniforms and equipment for a successful season. It's getting close to the time limit for any additional items needing to be ordered."
Neugebauer said meeting with parents in the summer will hopefully be more convenient than trying to meet during the school year, with everyone being busy.
"Once the season begins, it's hard to find time to meet with the parents, and I'd like to have the opportunity to get to know them, as well as the players," the first-year coach stated. "I'm very excited to be in Timpson; I can't wait to get started."
Neugebauer also announced that parents and athletes will have the opportunity to receive the University Interscholastic League (UIL) physical forms at the meeting and discuss the upcoming date set for physicals.
"The UIL and physical forms need to be signed by the parent and student," Neugebauer stated. "Physicals for incoming 7th, 9th and 11th graders, as well as new students in the Timpson area, will be held at the TISD field house on July 26 at 8:30 a.m.
Athletes are required to have a physical on file, in order to participate in practice or compete in games," the coach stated. "Physical forms must have the parent's signature before the medical personnel can perform the physical, according to Neugebauer. She added that July 26 is the only time the Timpson ISD will offer physicals for the athletes.
"If this date is missed, the parent or guardian will be responsible for them."
