It wasn't the way the Joaquin Lady Rams wanted to enter postseason play, but they qualified nevertheless, finishing third in the District 19-1A race Tuesday night after falling to No.13-ranked Waskom, 6-1, at Lady Ram Field.
The setback, Joaquin's third straight after beginning league play 7-1, gives the Lady Rams a 13-12 season mark, while posting a 7-4 district record.
Despite backing into the playoffs, Joaquin will open postseason action on Friday, March 30, when the Lady Rams begin a best 2-out-of-3 series with Mount Enterprise. The particulars of the series have yet to be determined.
In the setback to Waskom, Whitney Vaughn was the losing pitcher, while Parker picked up the win for the Lady Wildcats.
Olivia Worsham went 1-for-2 at the plate to lead the Lady Ram offensive charge. Taylor Wilkerson and Amber Owens each had 1-for-3 outings.
