Shelby County will be the host site for a pair of diamond tournaments beginning Thursday when the Center High School hosts the Center Softball Tournament and Timpson High School hosts the Timpson Baseball Tournament.

Both tourneys get underway on Thursday and continue through Saturday at their respective venues.

Center Softball Tournament
The Center Softball Tournament will host nine varsity teams - including Joaquin and Shelbyville - and four junior varsity squads during the event. Teams will play games at two sites, including Lady Rider Field on the campus of CHS and the Center City Park.

Teams will be involved in pool play on Thursday and Friday, with 10 games being played at CHS and five at the City Park. Action gets underway at 9 a.m. at the high school with Garrison taking on Shelbyville. The day will conclude with Center battling Alto at 6:40 p.m. and Cushing at 7:50 p.m.

Shelbyville will also play at 12:30 p.m. against Corrigan, while Joaquin faces Bullard at 11:20 a.m. and Alto at 3 p.m.

The Center junior varsity will play the Kirbyville JV at 2:50 p.m. and the Elysian fields JV at 4 p.m. Both games will be played at the City Park.

Pool action will continue on Friday, with games beginning at 9:30 a.m. and concluding with the final game at 8 p.m. Center will take on Joaquin at 6:50 p.m. and Bullard at 8 p.m. Shelbyville will face Mount Enterprise at 11:50 a.m. and Kirbyville at 5:40 p.m. Joaquin will also have a matchup with Cushing at 3:20 p.m.

Beginning on Saturday, teams will be involved in bracket play. Teams will be placed on the bracket according to how they finish in their four pool games. The Varsity Pool 'A' will consist of Alto, Bullard, Center, Cushing and Alto, while the Varsity Pool 'B' includes Corrigan, Garrison, Kirbyville, Mount Enterprise and Shelbyville.

The varsity championship bracket game is set to begin at 5 p.m. Saturday, with the consolation bracket title game set for 3:30 p.m. The junior varsity title game is scheduled for 12:15 p.m.

Timpson Baseball Tournament
Timpson will host a 10-team tournament beginning Thursday at Bear Field. There are six games scheduled for Thursday, beginning with Timpson taking on Apple Springs at 9 a.m.

Other teams participating in the three-day tourney include Hemphill, Garrison JV, Chireno, Martinsville, Broaddus, Kennard, Slocum and Wells.

The championship is set for 6 p.m. Saturday, with the Consolation contest at 1:30 p.m. and the third-place game will begin at 3:45 p.m.
