Shelbyville Lady Dragon lifters Kelsi Griffin and Bailee Wilburn made the trip to Class 2A Region III Powerlifting Meet in Forney on Saturday and came through with strong showings. Griffin had her best lift total of the season and qualified for the State Powerlifting Meet with a total of 775 pounds.
Griffin qualified for the Regional Meet in the 165-pound weight class with a total weight of 755 pounds. She was coming off a first-place performance at Bullard last weekend.
At the Regional Meet, Griffin bettered her regional qualifying total weight of 755 by 20 pounds, tallying a total weight of 775 at the Region III Meet. She came into the meet ranked seventh in her weight class, but will now advance to State on March 19 in Corpus Christi with her 7th-place finish.
Wilburn was coming off a first-place performance in the 148-lb. weight class at Bullard and had the sixth-best weight total coming into the Regional Meet, with 730 total pounds.
Wilburn just missed advancing to State, totaling 710 pounds at the meet in Forney.
