Katelyn Cockrell - 9 pts. vs. Gary.

The Joaquin Lady Rams have battled District 22-1A opponents all season long, but struggled as they tried to record a league victory. JHS got over the hump on Tuesday night when they held Gary to just 33 points in a 38-33 victory in Ram Gymnasium.

The win ended the season for both teams. The Lady Rams snapped their 10-game losing skid with the victory, finishing the year with a 4-23 mark, while posting a 1-11 record in 22-1A action. Gary dropped to 13-16 on the year, 5-7 against district competition and finished in a tie with New Summerfield for fourth place in the district, three games behind third-place Mount Enterprise.

Katelyn Cockrell led the Lady Ram attack, throwing in nine points, while Jordan Welch added five points, Amber Owens and Peyton Rutherford each chipped in four, Olivia Worsham scored three and Sadie Gray, Michaila Duncan and Taylor Wilkerson each contributed two points.

The teams combined for just six points in the first quarter, with the Lady Rams taking a 4-2 lead. Gary closed the gap in the second quarter, pulling to within 14-13 at the half.

The Lady Bobcats tied the score at 26-26 at the end of the third quarter, but Joaquin pulled away when the Lady Rams outscored Gary 14-7 in the final eight minutes.

In other District 22-1A action on Tuesday, Cushing (19-8, 10-2) sewed up second place with a 54-33 win over Timpson (10-17, 2-10), Mount Enterprise (16-14, 8-4) completed the third-place finish with a victory over New Summerfield (11-13, 5-7). League champion Tenaha had a bye.

Mount Enterprise will now face District 21-1A runner-up Cayuga in bi-district action early next week. Cushing will battle LaPoynor, the third-place team from District 21-1A, early next week as well.
