The Ponies' collegiate baseball program is hosting its 2011 Panola College Baseball Camp on June 6-8.

The camp is for youngster ages 5-12 and will take place from 9 a.m. until 12-noon each day at the Carthage Baseball Complex.

Check in for the camp is 30 minutes before each session.

"It's an honor and privilege to have the opportunity to work with these campers each year," said Panola College head baseball coach Todd Shelton in a release. "Baseball is the greatest game in the world and it takes young men like those who participate to carry on the great tradition that has made baseball 'America's favorite pastime.'

"During the camp we will try to teach the fundamental skills and drills of the game which have been passed through the years. Many sports change, however, baseball has remained the same and has grown stronger and stronger.

"The fundamentals of the game must be taught and practiced over and over until they become habit, for the game is just a bunch of fundamentals."

The cost of the camp is $75 per participant and includes three days of instruction and a t-shirt. Pre-registration will guarantee a t-shirt to the participant during the camp.

Registration forms and release waivers can be found on the Panola College baseball website. Click HERE for the site.

Refunds will be only given, if requested, at least one week prior to the first day of camp.

Campers should bring their baseball glove, bat, t-shirt and shoes or cleats. Also bring a pair of sneakers in case of inclement weather.
